Salmond claims his new job
THE SNP has won the most seats in the Holyrood election beating Labour by just a single seat - and leader Alex Salmond seemed to crown himself First Minister of Scotland before all the votes were even counted.

Labour keeps its grip on Glasgow
LABOUR has kept control of Glasgow City Council - but with a massively reduced majority. It picked up 45 of the 79 seats, giving it an 11-seat lead over the other parties.

COUNCIL ROUND-UP: SOUTH LANARKSHIRE
LABOUR took a hammering in South Lanarkshire, losing 19 seats and its overall majority.
